The basic summary of this suggestion is: the +events code is good for coordinating and schedualling, and keeping people informed.
On several occaisions there have been major scenes that had to timefreeze. Timefreezes are sometimes a pest, but they are very necessary in big plots and can't be helped. I have nothing against timefreezes at all, I do them myself, but sometimes they get out of hand as a struggle is made to try to get all the people involved on at once. The more people involved, the tougher it is to coordinate. Instead of basically being left to hope that we happen to find each other online, it might be better to simply schedual a time when the scene's going to happen that HOPEFULLY everyone involved will be able to make. It would also allow pre-planning for scenes.
Using Stormshadow's and Wildcat's current Bash plot as an example, if we want to open it to others to be involved, we would then be able to post to the +events code (or whatever) that we're having a scene on Monday, emitted by Wildcat, and if people want to try to be there, they can book a few hours at the schedualed time on Monday. Yes, I am aware that there is a 'Forum' for this, but a) it doesn't get used and b) The +events code makes it readily available and easily accessible, plus it doesn't get marked as 'read'.
It would also consistantly allow an accurate view of the present goings-on, plots, which plots are open to anyone and which aren't. Right now, for instance, I have NO IDEA what plots are going on, and there's no way to check. Some people didn't even know the Bat-plot was going on at all and that was a pretty big plot! ;> Being aware of when plots might be happening in the future means that we can try to pre-plan our time so we can be there, which means more people might be able to participate. |
