WHO: Catwoman and Cheshire
WHAT: THREE Cats Meet in the Park
WHERE: New York City - Midtown
Midtown [Manhattan]
Midtown is the home to Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building, the United Nations complex, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Trump Tower. Morgan Library and the New York Public Library offer changing exhibitions while behind the public library is Bryant Park which hosts free movies and music events in summer.
Fifth Avenue runs through Midtown with its expensive park-view real estate and historical mansions along its course, it is a symbol of wealthy New York. It is one of the premier shopping streets in the world.
The theaters of Broadway and the huge number of animated neon and television-style signage have long made Time Square one of New York's iconic images, and a symbol of the intensely urban aspects of Manhattan.
Ahhhhh New York City! The big apple! The city that never sleeps, and that just appeals to Catwoman. A town she likes to visit when the times are right, and this time it is right. As she has made her way into the Museum of History, she has unknowingly released a wave of evil upon the city.
A large explosion of black and silver light breaks through the skylight in the city of the museum where the 3000 year old idol of Bast once lay! The array of lights are a clear beacon in the sky that something fishy is happening!
Cheshire is back in New York after doing some 'work' out of town. As the sun sets over Midtown, the assassin is out walking along the sidewalk, just as bold as you please. She's disguised to look like just any other New Yorker at the end of a busy day, complete with Armani suit and Italian leather bag. Although she's got other things on her mind, the black and silver lights going off down at the Museum of History certainly gets her attention. And rouses her curiosity. Jade is always looking for something she can use as leverage, and unexplained power sources are right up her alley!
Walking quickly, she heads for the Museum and begins making subtle preparations. Cheshire takes a mental inventory of the various weapons and equipment that she's secreted on her person and in her bag, even in disguise.
As the light dies down, there is an explosion of sound and a roar that is heard through the city. In fact, a number of roars of various pitches from various subject. As the sounds continue to crash through the area around the Museum, a figure in black can be seen leaning against one of the windows. One of the broken windows watching as a 7 foot tall figure is running into central park.
The figure rubs her head watching a moment before she leaps off the ledge of the window, and lands gracefully on her feet as she begins to chase the thing.
The figure is moving with speed and grace of a cat, and by the by looks like a cat! As street cars honk and toot as she leaps over one that nearly hits her, going into a flip, she lands on the side walk not blinking an eye as she continues to run into the park!
Interesting... a seven foot tall cat running loose in Central Park. Cheshire may be wearing a business suit, but like so many commuters she's also wearing comfortable running shoes. Reaching into her bag as she sets off at a fast-jog, the assassin's deft fingers quickly find a pair of night-vision goggles. Accelerating, she slips them on and moves to head off the big, black cat.
As Cheshire puts the goggles, she will see Catwoman quite easily running behind the darkness. Her hand coming up behind her as she reasons for a snare behind her belt. As she leaps into the air, a good 20 feet thanks to the military grade springs built into her custom boots, she whirls the snare in a quick circle. The two weighted balls on the end click a moment, and then she releases. The snare wraps around the giant beasts legs and it goes down in a growl!
Catwoman lands on her feet elegantly as she has no knowledge of Cheshire yet as she begins to walk on the beast, "Kitty says stay."
The beast growls and flips onto his back as it begins to pull at the cords around its knees.
Cheshire watches both the cat and the burgular, taking advantage of their tousling to get in front of them. Into the bag again, Cheshire pulls out a 9mm Sig Sauer while she gets into position. It's already loaded. And silenced. The woman goes into a crouch, hiking the skirt up above her knees for ease of movement.
*SNAP* The cord is easily broke as the huge cat leaps at Catwoman. She dodges to the left, as the beasts claws come out, it's deep voice speaks in broken English, "You...not...Bast." A black spear begins to form out of thin air in his claw hand, "You....die." Catwoman sighs as the beast rushes her again. As it swings, she goes leaps backwards into a backwards flip into the air, landing on her feet. Her whip coming out in one fluid motion, "now, if I had known I would have released you kitty. Mommy would not have taken the pretty statue. Now...come on. Play nice."
The assassin is more or less behind and to one side of the cat-monster when it rises up and summons the spear. It's not that Cheshire is the humanitarian sort, but she has questions to answer now, and her money's on the woman rather than the beast to answer. There's no hesitation as she raises the pistol. <pfft!> <pfft!> <pfft!> She aims for the creature's non-vital areas first... each knee and the closest hip.
As the bullets in fact hit the monster, he roars in pain, as he swings around towards the direction in which they came. Catwoman turns her eyes as well, tapping her goggles the heat vision kicks in to reveal Cheshire's figure as she taps them again. She turns her eyes on the cat-beast. As she begins to run for it, the slugs in its body fall to the sidewalk in three clanks as his body heals it self in time for it to barely dodge Catwoman's swings with her claws, as her second swing hits home and it roars again in pain. It's right arm swinging out violently!
Cheshire holds her ground as the creature turns on her, raising the pistol higher. Head... wait for it... eyes. Gotcha. <pfft!> <pfft!> The creature may be able to shed the bullets, but at least it won't see very well for a few moments. As soon as she fires, Cheshire crosses over to get a better angle... and to get closer to Catwoman. "We are just annoying it. We need to disable it, if we cannot kill it."
As the beast turns it's eyes back on Catwoman. its head moves to the side twice, his arm missing MIss Kitty all together because of the pain in its head now. It roars in pain, as Catwoman is crouched down in front of the beast, "Thank you for the new flash suga. Yet If you know how by all means." As beast kicks it claw foot outward, Catwoman rolls to the left and is on her feet instantly. In the roll however a gleaming white statue falls out of her satchel and begins to gleam in the moon light. The beast blinks and its body language goes from one of anger to fear.
Ever the perceptive combatant, Cheshire certainly notices the change in the beast's reactions. "I've injured it repeatedly, and yet it is still more interested in you..." she begins, then she sees the statue as well. The -gleaming- statue. "I think I see. After-hours special going on at the Museum tonight?" The pistol-armed businesswoman steps up to the fallen statue and crouches, watching the beast.
As the Cat looks over at Cheshire, she frowns, "Yes I was doing some shopping when..." She shakes her head, 'Never mind. This is just one of nine." As the Black beast turns and begins to run it growls, "Me no go back." As Catwoman blinks and says, "Throw the statue at it! It comes out of the statue!"
No need to tell her twice! The beast begins to run and Cheshire reaches for the glowing statue, the gun changing hands. A quick flip to test the statue’s balance and heft, then she throws it at the fleeing beast. Stepping into the throw, it's pretty apparent that she's done this before. The statue is hurled like a thrown axe, end over end and aimed well at the center of the creature's back.
As the statue flies through the air towards the fleeing cat man, it suddenly stops and the mouth of the statue opens. As a beam of white light hits the beast it screams in pain, as it is lifted into the air and begins to get sucked into the statue. As it glows brightly for a second, it begins to fall to the ground...
**CRACK**
It is grabbed in the air by her whip, as Catwoman grabs it from mid air. As it flies back to her from her tug, she grabs it with ease and looks at Cheshire and purrs, "Meow."
Which then leaves Cat facing Cat.... one dressed in a business suit with night-vision goggles and holding a pistol, the other wearing her costume and holding a whip. The Cheshire cat smiles wryly, still in a ready-stance. "Interesting little trinket you've got there."
As Catwoman slides the statue of Bast back into her satchel she smiles, her cat eyed shaped goggles shimmering against the moonlight, "Yes...thank you." She doesn't move herself as Catwoman wiggles her whip a little, "So...now what."
Cheshire considers the other woman a moment, then speaks. "Well, I've fired five shots and you have your whip. So the real question becomes how badly we each want the statue. Why don't you start by telling me more about it?"
As the kitty licks her upper lip, "The statue of Bast. It was said to have been made by Bast herself. A replica of her beauty that she would keep immortalized for all to see." Catwoman smirks, "When I took the statue, 9 large cat-men came out calling me Bast. When I revealed I was not the goddess. They tried to kill me as I tried to keep them within the building. So..." she shrugs, "We have captured one it seems, and 8 more are in the city somewhere." She purrs with a shrug, "Who know."
Cheshire grins broadly at that; her professional smile. "Eight more cat-men, out there in the city and looking to keep out of the statue. I wonder what else they might do to occupy themselves?" Relaxing a bit, she cocks her hip and gestures with the non-weapon hand. "And I wonder what will happen if all nine are captured?"
Catwoman smirks, "As much as I would like to sit and chat with you...gun lady. I have some cat men to find." She takes a few steps back as she begins to move for the darkness of the trees.
Cheshire watches Catwoman slip away with the statue, and it’s a moment before she slips goggles and pistol back into her handbag. Straighten the hair, tug the skirt back into place, and then she’s just one of thousands of businesswomen in New York again, out after a late meeting. “Eight more shouldn’t be hard to find, if they’re like this one.” she murmurs as she heads off in a different direction. “I really should get a better look at that remarkable statue...” |
