Residents and frequent visitors to Chinatown have started noticing an exponential rise in price of some shops, particularly those that specialize in homeopathic remedies. Shop owners cite a lack of supplies and rising shipping costs for the reason.
Rumours, naturally, state otherwise.
Word on the street is that several illicit shipments of (purportedly) poached animals and animal parts have been forcefully stopped and the contents either destroyed or left behind for police to gather as evidence.
Furthermore, witnesses have begun reporting a feral shen -- a woman clad in yellow that moves with inhuman silence and grace -- in the area, although she only appears at night.
Sales of jade, crystals, and other charms have increased, likely due to superstitious beliefs. |
